In the heart of the village of Cliffe is the Six Bells public house. It was renamed from the Black Bull which might have been one of the oldest beer-houses in Cliffe, dating back to the eighteenth century. The current pub remains a great-looking building and appears to be of late Victorian or Edwardian origin.
In the car park nearby, several Second World War anti-tank cones, or pimples, can be seen. These concrete blocks would have halted, or at least slowed down, any German tanks if they successfully made it onto British soil.
