Westcliff High School for Boys History

25 April 201625 March 2021 By Liam Heatherson

Liam from Beyond the Point has worked with school to produce a feature-length documentary on the school’s history including both an insight into life there and behind the scenes areas of the building with kind permission and help from the Headmaster, staff, and caretaker. As well as video footage and interviews, we also took extensive photography of the behind the scenes areas. This project has been underway for several years, particularly around 2013-2015, and above is the most recent cut of the film from 2017 which was shown at a Old Westcliffians’ event where it was well received. We hope to add to this in future to commemorate the school’s centenary with updated footage.

High Royds ☠️ High Royds was once one of the High Royds ☠️

High Royds was once one of the most infamous asylums in the country, having opened in 1885. Following the closure of the site in 2003, the buildings were later converted into housing although the mortuary still remains derelict.
