With our Halloween special just around the corner, we’d thought that we would give an update on what’s been happening over the past few months.
Most recently, in front of a packed crowd, we were the guest speakers at a Benfleet Historical Society Event. With around 60 people in the audience, we were invited to give a talk explaining what we do at BTP and how things have changed over the past 8 years. Our presentation covered the sites that we document, what technology we use and also why it’s important for us to cover local historic sites and get younger people involved. We kindly received £40 in donations, which will be put back into running the Beyond the Point website.
Before this, we were fortunate enough to have a journalist pick-up on our documentary on Billionaires’ Row which made it into several national newspapers including The Daily Mail, The Metro and The Mirror. This takes our YouTube Channel up to 960 subscribers – we’re just short of 1,000 which will enable us to live stream our explores so make sure that you subscribe to us if you haven’t already!
The next TWO videos on our channel will be our Halloween specials taking a look at some of the most ‘haunted’ sites in Essex and the videos don’t stop there! Last weekend we met up with photographer and explorer Jamie Dench who showed us the sites of sunny Margate and this coming weekend we’re doing another collab with Dan from YouTube Channel Phoenix History, so keep an eye out over the coming months for these videos.
